Alnico 2 magnets just like Marc's full size pickups. These are solid looking with no visible pole pieces. These are internally a mini HB not a FB pup. They however will fit in a FB. I love the old Epi Minis and was always a fan of Leon Rhodes' tone when he'd rip it up with Buddy Charleton. I figured I'd combine that tone with Marc's HB tone and this is what we have. I wound these for Marc's Hofner which we all know was a great sounding guitar with lots of charm. They are also in his Asher.
These went with Marc on his Europe/ Japan tour with Booker T Jones.
Marc wanted the sweet compressed sound that I'm known for but he also wanted the guitar to sustain well without being overly punchy like most minis. These pickups go from the dreamiest Rockabilly type sound to great classic rock with variation in pick attack. Combine these with the BMF Fat Bastard or Great Wide Open-Incredible!
